Lucky Leprechaun Hat

The perfect hat for chasing rainbows and finding gold...It works GREAT in the snow too, which is AWESOME because it WON'T STOP SNOWING! :)

Notes:  I made this hat pattern for an adult woman.  I put some notations for changing up the size of the hat.  If you want to make a really small hat you may want to omit round 6 because you would have to put in quite a few decreases around round 8 and your hat will get a 'fat on top and skinny on bottom' look-which is actually kind of cool-it is totally up to you.  Basically, you will want to count your stitches, for me-every 2.5 dc is one inch SO if I want my hat to be 21.5" I want 54 stitches.

Materials:  Worsted weight (I used red heart super saver) Green, Yellow, black, tapestry needle and H hook

Gauge: 11 dc going across that equals 4"  and for 8.5 rows of dc it equals 4"

1.     Magic ring, ch 2 (counts as dc here and throughout), 9 dc in ring (10 dc); join finish off magic ring
2.     Ch 2, dc in same dc, 2dc in each dc around; join (20 dc)
3.     Ch 2, *2 dc in next dc, dc in next dc; repeat from * around; join (30 dc)
4.     Ch 2, dc in next dc, *2dc in next dc, dc in next 2 dc; repeat from * around; join (40 dc)
5.     Ch 2, dc in next 2 dc, *2dc in next dc, dc in next 3 dc; repeat from * around; join (50 dc)
6.     Ch 2, dc in next 3 dc, *2dc in next dc, dc in next 4 dc; repeat from * around; join (60 dc)
7.     Ch 1, sl st around BP of same stitch, ch 2, BPDC around each dc (but put 6 dec evenly around this round this will give you a hat circumference of 21”.  If you want your hat smaller add a few more decreases-about 2.5 per inch or if you want your hat larger you can omit a few decreases-about 2.5 per inch) (54 dc)
8.     Ch 2, dc in each dc around; join (54 dc)
